Business House - celebrated 50 years of Business House at the club in 2017-18
Taranaki Newspapers achieved the amazing feat of having a team each year in the 50 year old competition.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Business House at Pukekura Park Tennis Club, thoughts were given to having a restaurant dinner reunion in September to celebrate 50 years of Monday Night Business House.
The teams that competed in 2017-18 are: Section 1: Hooker Pacific, Ear Nose and Throat, Govett Quilliam, KDG, QP Sports, Liquigas, Team Bring It, The Floater Sections 2: Taranaki Newspapers, BNZ, Todd Tennis Team, NPDC Projects, Worksafe Warriors, Puke Ariki, Late But Keen Competition Format: There are 15 teams this season with the teams being split up into 2 graded sections. Section 1 with 8 teams and Section 2 with 7 teams and a bye. There will be two complete rounds played, one round of 7 matches before Xmas and one round of 7 matches in the New Year. After completion of the first round, 2 teams will drop down to Section 2 and 1 team will go up to Section 1, therefore for round 2, section 1 will have 7 teams and a bye while section 2 will have 8 teams.
Points system: Each night will be 3 x 30 minutes of doubles (starting sharp at 5.30pm). 3 points per team overall for a win on the night (most games won on the night). 2 points per team for an overall team draw on the night. 1 point for an overall team loss within 6 games.
The second round starts Monday the ? January 2021. The dates of play are: 1st February, 15 February, 22 February, 1 March, 8 March, 15 March, 22 March (being final night and prize giving).
Promotion / Relegation: QP Sports and Liquigas were relegated to Section 2 and Late but Keen were promoted to Section 1 for the second round after Xmas.
